The Jackson residence - An interesting two storey pole home with beautiful views of the valley and national park at Westleigh, Sydney - near Cherrybrook and just off Pennant Hills Road. A joint design by our team and the owners, with our involvement in the project to lock-up stage only, with the owners completing the residence from there.
This is another pole house project from our archives, included here for some interesting images of the construction process. We ended up building 3 houses in this new estate at Westleigh back in the day - all very successful jobs. You can see the recently completed Woodroffe pole house in the background of the images below.

Craig & Linda had purchased a rugged block of land in a new subdivision at Westleigh. Wonderful bush & valley views in a heavily wooded and fragile environment. Lots of rock & boulder outcrops all around, and beautiful eucalypt trees that needed to be protected during the build. Another site on which extreme care was required to ensure minimal distrurbance of the flora & fauna and the ground surfaces to preserve the ecology of the area. Many of our clients ask the question: "Who can we find to construct this residence that will observe & fulfill all of our visions and these critical requirements?" |
The images in the slide show above are not great - simple photos extracted from our archives. Still, they give you an idea of the care & diligence required during the construction process on these difficult blocks of land. Bushfires are always a great concern on these sites. Luckily the local bushfire brigade is just up the road.
It was a pleasure working with these owners. All in all a very pleasing project for Craig, Linda and ourselves.

Testimonial from Linda & Craig Jackson:
"Early in 1993 we met with Wayne Wheeler at his West Gosford offices of Practical Pole Homes and together we designed the right house for our very sloping block of land at Westleigh.
We then contracted Wayne and his team of tradesmen to build our house to lock-up stage, and we would intend to take over from there as owner-builders.
The block itself was quite difficult, being a significant slope with plenty of natural vegetation and big gum trees which we wanted to remain undamaged. We watched the house next door (the Woodroffe pole house) being built by Wayne and his team and were very impressed with the work that was carried out.
After plans were approved the construction began very quickly, despite what is considered a difficult design with several split levels and different roof lines. We found the tradesmen to be very professional and also very helpful.
Craig & I have no hesitation in recommending Wayne and his team as very professional and experienced builders.
Yours sincerely,
Linda Jackson"
