Another very successful project for great clients who have become friends, and have since commissioned us with further new works to their residence. A unique "granny flat" extension to be built on top of an existing two-car garage, complete with it's own separate entrance and services. Situated on a high, rocky block of land at Horsfield Bay (yep, that's how you spell it!) with some nice valley views and in amongst some magnificent towering native trees, including a few huge Angophera specimens... (Angophera Costata - Sydney Red Gum).

Garry and Kerry wanted to have Kerry's mother come and stay with them, but understandably, they all needed to have their own space and privacy. The existing house was quite large but didn't suit the additional space requirements. What to do here.... ? Our good friends at CEO Architectural were commissioned and came up with an excellent design for a self contained flat over the top of the existing double garage. Enter the BuildFlex crew! |
The construction brief came with a few engineering challenges to span the garage without any intermediate support posts? Also, the majority of the garage contents were to remain in place to avoid the hassle & expense of temporary storage, and how to merge the new upper floor against the existing residence and matching external finishes...? All done on time and on budget!
When the project is challenging, BuildFlex provides Your Flexible Building Solutions! It's a little hard to get nice photos of the progress through the trees, but the slide shows give you a pretty good idea of the job scope.
A fairly easy project by the standard of some of our jobs, and a very satisfying outcome for the owners and the builder. Hazel moved in successfully and loves her new home in "The Tree House".

We have since returned to Garry & Kerry's residence to refurbish the large entertaining decks and a renovation of their ensuite. Here's a few images of the deck refurbishment project. Some simple photos taken with an iPhone, but they give you an idea of how a tired old deck can be rejuvenated from treated pine boards to new composite decking. Who you gunna call? |
